Neutering

Why should you neuter your pet?

If you would like to neuter your pet, please call the surgery on 01631 562876 and our Client Care Team will happily book the appointment for you and provide all the information you need. 

Your pet will be dropped off first thing on the day of their operation and can go home later on that afternoon. At this time a nurse will discharge your pet and provide comprehensive post-operative guidance. We will also book any follow-up appointments, if required. 

Advantages of Neutering Dogs

  • Prevents testicular cancer
  • Prevents breeding
  • Considerably reduces the risk of prostate disease including prostate cancer
  • If carried out when young can modify hormone related behaviours such as aggression, mounting, marking or roaming
  • We advise neutering from six months of age, following a full health check
  • Prevents breeding and unwanted puppies
  • Prevents false pregnancies
  • Prevents cancer of the uterus and ovaries
  • If spaying is carried out before a bitches second season the risk of mammary cancer in later life is much reduced
  • Prevents pyometra (a life-threatening uterine infection) in later life
  • Removes the inconvenience of seasons with bleeding and unwelcome attention from male dogs
  • We advise neutering three months after the first season, following a full health check

Cats
